For this project, I was required to create an interactive visual representation of a personal 20-minute journey, capturing its unique characteristics through observation, documentation and creative decision-making. I developed WonderWalks, a playful journey-mapping concept designed for children aged 6–12, encouraging them to explore their surroundings and discover the magic in everyday places.

Following feedback, I refined my target audience from neighbourhood children to students at Rose Park Primary School, creating a more specific and purposeful experience. The concept encourages children to discover local attractions, identify safe crossing points and engage with their environment through a hands-on flower-collecting activity.

I developed a visual identity to guide the design, using Cooper Std for its bold, rounded letterforms and playful character. A simple map and flower symbol reinforces the concept, while a combination of natural greens, teal and coral, supported by softer pastel tones, creates a friendly and engaging aesthetic. Together, these elements establish a cohesive identity that balances playfulness with clarity.

The final outcome features an accordion-style map that guides children through the journey while separating information into clear, manageable sections. Rounded shapes, illustrations, photography and consistent iconography create visual unity, while colour and typography establish hierarchy and improve readability. A cylindrical container for collecting flowers extends the experience beyond the map, encouraging children to interact with their surroundings and create a tangible reminder of their adventure.

The final WonderWalks design combines visual storytelling, practical wayfinding and hands-on exploration to create an engaging experience for young audiences. Through research, experimentation and refinement, the project allowed me to explore how graphic design can transform an everyday journey into an imaginative and interactive experience.
